The quickest way to tell an EZGO TXT from an RXV is the front body and the rear suspension. The TXT has a squarer front cowl and a leaf-spring rear end. The RXV, introduced in 2008, has a more rounded, sculpted front and a different rear suspension design. The distinction matters because lift kits, brake components and most body panels do not interchange between the two — while wheels, tires and cosmetic accessories generally do.
Identify your cart in under a minute
The reliable method is the serial number, not the styling. On most EZGO carts the serial plate is under the passenger-side seat or on the frame near the rear. Visually, look at the rear. If you can see leaf springs running front-to-back over the rear axle, you are almost certainly looking at a TXT. The RXV uses a different arrangement.
What is actually different
Rear suspension and lift kits
This is the big one. Because the two platforms carry their rear axles differently, a lift kit built for a TXT will not fit an RXV and vice versa. When you shop lift kits, filter by your exact model — this is the most common cause of a returned kit.
Braking
Electric TXT and RXV carts handle braking differently, and the RXV's system behaves differently when you lift off the pedal. Brake parts are model-specific; do not assume a TXT component fits.
Body panels and windshields
Front cowls, rear body panels and windshields are cut for one platform. A TXT windshield will not seat correctly on an RXV.
Electrical
The two platforms use different controllers and wiring. If you are looking at performance controllers, buy one listed for your specific model, motor and voltage.
What interchanges freely
Plenty does. Golf carts almost universally use a 4-on-4 wheel bolt pattern, so wheels and tires cross over between TXT, RXV, and even between EZGO, Club Car and Yamaha. So do most mirrors, cup holders, cargo boxes, and most audio, because they clamp to standard roof struts.
Gas or electric — check this too
Both platforms were sold in gas and electric versions, and they use different front-end and drivetrain components. On an electric cart, confirm the pack voltage before buying anything electrical: six 6-volt batteries is 36V; six 8-volt or four 12-volt batteries is 48V.
