Golf Cart Tires

Golf cart tires in street, all-terrain and turf patterns — 80 tires from GTW, MODZ, Xcomp, Kenda and Arisun, priced from about $52 to $196 each. These are tires sold on their own, for owners who already have wheels. If you need both, a mounted wheel-and-tire combo is usually better value and arrives ready to bolt on.

Which tread do you need?

Turf tires have a shallow, closely spaced tread designed to be gentle on grass — the right choice if the cart lives on a course. Street tires have a smooth, road-style pattern that runs quietly and wears slowly on pavement, ideal for neighbourhood and community driving. All-terrain tires use a deeper, more aggressive block pattern for sand, gravel, dirt and wet grass; they grip far better off pavement at the cost of some road noise.

Reading golf cart tire sizes

Golf cart tires use two formats. The three-number format — for example 23x10-14 — means 23″ overall diameter, 10″ section width, on a 14″ wheel. The low-profile format — for example 215/35-12 — gives width in millimetres, aspect ratio, then wheel diameter. The last number is always the wheel size the tire mounts on, so match it to the wheels you own.

Do bigger tires need a lift kit?

Usually, yes. Most carts clear up to roughly a 20″–22″ overall tire diameter without modification. Anything taller typically rubs the fender or body at full steering lock, which is where a lift kit comes in. Check the overall diameter listed on the product page rather than the wheel size alone — diameter, not rim size, is what causes rubbing.
