Golf cart steering wheels and adapters for EZGO, Club Car and Yamaha carts — 37 products from GTW, Gussi, MadJax and Champion, priced from about $49 to $206. The range covers classic and sport profiles, wood-grain and carbon-fibre finishes, and the adapter hubs needed to mount an aftermarket wheel to your cart's steering column.

You almost always need an adapter

An aftermarket golf cart steering wheel does not bolt straight onto the column. Each cart brand uses a different splined shaft, so you need an adapter matched to your make and model — Club Car DS, Club Car Precedent, EZGO and Yamaha adapters are all different parts. Buy the wheel and the correct adapter together; ordering the wheel alone is the most common mistake on this category.

Choosing a wheel

Steering wheels differ in diameter, grip thickness and finish. A smaller-diameter sport wheel gives quicker-feeling steering and more knee room; a larger classic wheel takes less effort to turn at low speed, which matters on carts without power steering. Finish is personal taste — carbon-fibre and brushed aluminium suit modern carts, wood-grain suits classic builds.

Fitting

Replacing a steering wheel is a straightforward job with basic tools, but the centre nut is usually torqued tight and some carts need a puller to release the original wheel. Disconnect the battery pack before starting, and keep the horn or centre-cap wiring intact if your cart has it.
