Navitas golf cart controllers and motor systems — 61 products including AC drive controllers, motor kits and complete conversion packages, priced from about $9 for connectors to $2,495 for a full system. Navitas is one of the best-known names in golf cart performance drivetrain upgrades, particularly AC conversions for carts that shipped with DC motors.

What a Navitas system changes

Upgrading the controller and motor raises the current the drivetrain can deliver, which means noticeably more torque from a standstill and a higher top speed. On hilly ground or with a loaded cart, torque is what you actually feel. AC systems also typically add regenerative braking and better efficiency than an older DC setup.

Match the system to your cart

A performance controller has to suit your motor, battery pack and voltage. Fitting a high-output controller to a stock motor and a tired lead-acid pack will not deliver the advertised numbers, and can overheat the motor. Serious builds pair the controller with a matched motor and a pack — often lithium — that can supply the current. Check the listing names your cart, motor type and voltage.

Speed changes more than speed

More power means longer braking distances and different handling, on a vehicle whose brakes and tires were specified for stock performance. Review both if you raise top speed significantly. Note also that many communities cap golf cart speed, and vehicles above roughly 20 mph fall into different legal classes — see our guide on street-legal carts.
