Golf cart light kits and LED lighting — 104 products from MadJax, GTW, Reliance and Innova covering headlights, taillights, turn signals, light bars, rock lights and underglow, priced from about $7 for a bulb to $606 for a complete street-legal kit.

Basic light kit or street-legal kit?

A basic light kit gives you headlights and taillights so you can see and be seen at dusk — enough for a golf course or private property. A street-legal (LSV) kit adds what the law requires for road use: turn signals, brake lights, a horn, reflectors and usually a licence-plate light. If you intend to drive on public roads, buy the complete kit rather than adding pieces later; requirements vary by state, so check yours.

LED is the default now

LED lighting draws far less current than halogen, which matters on a battery-powered cart where every amp shortens your range. LEDs also last dramatically longer and handle vibration better. Where a kit lists a wattage, lower draw for the same brightness is the better buy.

Wiring and voltage

Most golf cart lighting runs on 12V, so on a 36V or 48V cart you need a voltage reducer — wiring 12V lights directly to the pack will destroy them. Many complete kits include a reducer; check before ordering. Route wiring away from steering and suspension components, and use the supplied grommets where wires pass through body panels.

Fitment

Headlight and taillight housings are usually model-specific because they mount into the body panel, while light bars, rock lights and underglow are largely universal. Order housings by make and model.
